So, just a few days go by and Farmer John says to Shane, "Shane, go pick bags of corn." So that's how Shane finds himself alone in a cornfield, sinking in the silt and mud while the sun starts to sink to the West. It is rumored that this fine glacial silt actually resembles quicksand and the more a man struggles the faster he will sink into the mud. While he never actually panicked, Shane was sinking fast! Luckily Mr. Calabro Sr. heard Shane's struggle with his one good ear and he quickly mobilized Team Calabro. Dave was on the spot and managed to free one leg with the pointy shovel (ouch!). Reinforcements arrive - Aladdin and Leyla and Diane (with the camera).

Shane Expects A Quiet Day On The Job and Instead Finds A Flood and Pumpkins Floating in the Field AND has to pick 30 bags of corn while he sinks in the flood mud!
Usually the farm is pretty quiet. We all just watch corn and pumpkins grow. The sun shines. The plants get bigger. Life is good.
And they really are quite nice, pumpkins and gourds and all...
BUT NOT TODAY!!! After 11 days straight of rain, rain, and more rain, today was not a normal day. In fact, today was a day that the fields said we've had just about enough of this and then there was flooding! And then the pumpkins started to float away down the Ten Mile River.
Yes Indeed Pumpkins Float!
